September is designated as Hunger Action Month, as more than 40 million people in the US are hunger or have food insecurity. As per our annual tradition, Cornett Roofing Systems is proud to support Indiana food pantries with a food donation to help Hoosiers in this time of great need. This year, our donation was given to the Martin County Food Pantry and consisted of 72 cases of various beans from local provider, N.K. Hurst Company. This equates to about 2,000 pounds of food product!
Under our Cornett Cares program, we look for opportunities to support our local communities, which include donations of such as this, along with providing free roofing services and products to organizations such as Little Leagues and non-profits. During this time of economic anxiety and need, we encourage those that are able to give to search out and donate to reputable food banks and charities.
According to the Feeding America website, due to the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, more than 42 million people may experience food insecurity, including a potential 13 million children. The goal of Hunger Action Month is to bring awareness to the problem, increase donations, and recognize those organizations and individuals who do this very important work.
